Garden & swimmingpoll
This English family, passionately fond of authentic Provence, acquired an ancient property set high up in a typical inland village which had a panoramic view of the Mediterranean Sea and the neighbouring hills.
Our numerous goals were:
– To obtain planning permission to extend the existing property.
– To restructure the interior spaces with a new design that would suit all the family.
– To design a landscaped living space on the main part of the property, which would include a large swimming-pool, a comfortable pool house with a summer kitchen, a dining area, a place for a baker’s oven and a barbecue; a wide pergola, stone terraces around the pool and set in greenery.
From this magic and peaceful place, you can in one glance: survey the sea, the Provençal village that is perched on its rocky outcrop and the garden, arranged with hundred-year-old olive trees and stone walls planted with Mediterranean aromatic species and flowers.
We worked with authentic materials, hundred-year-old salvaged beams, ancient tiles, hand-cut local stones, stone paving and made-to-measure wrought iron… We focused our attention on the atmospheres created by light, which turns these spaces into a delightful scene when night is falling; a gentle way of life in natural surroundings, with crickets singing and lights twinkling in the distance.
